Can you provide me with a skipper?
This is not a problem. The owner of the business is qualified to yachtmaster standard and holds a commercial endorsement. We also have a number of professional skippers available all qualified to the same level.
What qualifications do I need to charter a yacht?
You will require tidal coastal skipper practical and yachtmaster shore based qualification with one crew member qualified to competent crew level. You must also hold a Short Range Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence.
If you do not hold these qualifications we will be happy to consider your sailing CV and discuss your options.
What is included in the charter price?
Our prices are fully inclusive for the yacht. We will supply your yacht in a spotless condition with a full tank of fuel, full water tanks and sufficient gas for the duration of your charter. We do ask that you return it in a similar condition with the fuel tank topped up. We reserve the right to make a charge should the yacht be left in a dirty condition. We can undertake the end of charter clean for you for a small charge of £50. We do not charge for engine hours or gas usage.
What are the charter periods?
Day charters: 09.00 – 17.00
Weekend charters: 18.00 Friday – 17.00 Sunday
Midweek charter: 09.00 Monday – 12.00 Friday
Week charter: 18.00 Friday – 15.00 Friday
We will be as flexible as possible so please contact us if these times do not suit you. However, please note we do reserve the right to charge £25 per hour for yachts that are returned late.
What safety equipment is supplied?
All our boats are coded to CAT 2 MCA standards and include all the safety equipment required to meet this standard. This includes life raft, life jackets, harnesses, flares, danbuoys, first aid kit etc.,
When do hand overs take place?
All handovers must be to the skipper and completed prior to departure of the yacht from the marina. This can be up to 19.00 hours on the evening of a weekend charter. Late arrivals can have access to the boat but handover will take place the following morning prior to departure. However, we will be as flexible as possible.
What security deposit is payable?
The security deposit payable is £1500 to cover breakages or losses in the event an insurance claim is necessary and will cover the policy excess. It is payable on arrival by credit card/cash or, if by cheque, in advance to enable funds to be cleared. The deposit will be returned within 14 days of the end of the charter in the event no losses occur. We would not expect to charge for minor breakages but do ask you to make us aware so that we can ensure replacement for the next charterer. Signifcant damage/loss will be deducted from the deposit prior to return.
What about bad weather?
In the event of a forecast >F6 prior to departure, we reserve the right to re-schedule an alternative date. If bad weather should occur during the charter, we ask you to keep in contact with us so that we can make decisions on a daily basis, to cancel or re-schedule. Refunds will not be made for bad weather.
